Adventures to the markets..

One thing I have always loved about going on holidays was visiting the markets and buying little treasures or gems that I came across. So as my second adventure in Spain I headed to the market in Torreveija and the Zucia market near Cartenga.

The markets have everything you could ever want from fresh fruit and vegetables grown locally by farmers to nicknacks for friends and family. But one of my favourite things about markets is the hustle and bustle of the hordes of people, there is a strange sense of community between the venders and visitors that you can sometimes miss out on.

But also one of my favourite thing about the markets is that they are in central locations or they are pretty near good local bars and restaurants, there are the traditional Spanish bars and restaurants which can be a bit intimidating because of the language barrier but once you grasp a few key words of Spanish you can order your food with ease, or there are English bar/restaurants that serve traditional breakfasts and dinners either way you are spoilt for choice.

For me markets are one way to find amazing deals but they are also a insight into the  support of a community for local farmers and venders. This is why markets hold a special place in my heart.

Finally moving

So I decided to do something different today. Because I have an interest in film and camera work I decided to make this video of moving. Anyway moving is difficult and stressful and pretty weird because you never get to return to the house where you grew which is really weird to imagine. So I hope you enjoy this different post.
(sorry about the shaking camera at some times!)

Saying goodbye 😭

Saying goodbye is always hard and it's worst when family really step up and look after you for awhile. But really saying goodbye is hard because in some way you understand that you may or may not see these people ever again. And deep down you hope this is not the case. With the looming leaving date approaching saying goodbye is getting harder from the debs on Monday and saying goodbye to the girls I have spent the last four years with and them asking you not to go to family inviting you around for dinner. It seems like the little things really mean the most and not getting to see these amazing people for awhile is going to be hard, I know that I can fly back but the idea of not seeing these people is extremely hard because they are going to experience everything that college throws at them and I do wish I could be there with them but I'm also grateful for the opportunity to travel to a new country and live there and see everything that comes my way.
The moral of this post is that saying goodbye is not permanent but it is an opportunity to say hello to new experiences and I wanted to thank everyone who has been part of my life for the past four years because without you guys I don't know where I would be xx

a little bit about me...

Hi my names Sarah, but you probably guessed that from the title of the blog. Anyway this post is just about me so here goes.
I'm Irish and taking a gap year before I decide what to do with the rest of my life.(ahhh scary)  So I'm spending my gap year in Spain and I am hoping to document the year through this blog.
WHY SPAIN? Well my family is moving there and I thought it would be a great way to find out a little bit more about myself and experience the world before I go to college. Plus Spain has always been somewhere I wanted to live.
WHEN DO YOU LEAVE?  In just under two weeks my family and I embark on this world wind journey of moving to a different country. And honestly it's exciting but nerve-racking.
I hope to post weekly about little adventures I take and my experience of living in a new country for the year and who knows maybe it will be longer than a year. Hopefully you will join me on this experience.

Sarah. :)
